Job summary

The Raspberry Cafe in Tai Tapu, Christchurch, is seeking an experienced, friendly Café All-Rounder / Café Assistant to join our team. You’ll be making coffees, looking after customers, taking orders, running food and helping the wider team keep service running smoothly.

This is a permanent, full-time role with minimum 30 hours per week. Availability on weekends and during busy Christmas/New Year periods is required. Previous hospitality experience and barista skills are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

We’re looking for an experienced, friendly and reliable Café All-Rounder / Café Assistant to join our team at The Raspberry Café in Tai Tapu.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working across different areas of a busy café. You’ll be making coffees, looking after customers, taking orders, running food and helping the wider team keep service running smoothly.

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Preparing espresso coffees and other beverages
• Greeting customers and providing friendly, attentive service
• Taking orders at tables and entering orders through the POS system
• Handling cash, EFTPOS and customer payments
• Running food and drinks to tables
• Clearing, cleaning and resetting tables
• Keeping front-of-house and service areas clean and well presented
• Restocking supplies and maintaining service areas
• Assisting with dishes and general cleaning as required
• Providing general support to the kitchen when required
• Working closely with the wider team to keep service running smoothly during busy periods

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• A minimum of 2 years' relevant café or hospitality experience, or a relevant hospitality qualification.
• Previous hands-on barista experience and confidence preparing espresso coffee.
• Experience with table service and taking customer orders.
• Confidence using POS systems and handling payments.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to work efficiently in a busy café environment.
• A reliable, positive and team-focused approach.
• Must be clean and tidy
• Flexibility to assist across different areas of the café when required.
• Availability to work weekends and during our busy Christmas and New Year period, including public holidays as required.
• Clean Criminal history.
• Ability to commute to work with reliable travel as the business operates 7 days a week.

Hours and Position

• This is permanent, full-time position with minimum 30 hours per week.

Pay Rate

• $25.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
