Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking an experienced Café Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy Auckland café. You will lead the team, drive service standards and ensure excellent customer experiences.

The role requires at least two years in café or hospitality, strong leadership, and the ability to manage stock, costs, rosters and supplier relations in a fast-paced environment. A professional and calm approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in café, restaurant or similar hospitality operations.
  • Strong leadership, staff-supervision and organisational skills.
  • Sound customer-service, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage stock, costs, purchasing, rosters and service standards in a busy café environment.
  • Professional, reliable and positive approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organise the day-to-day operations of the café, including service delivery, staffing, functions and catering requirements.
  • Plan menus in consultation with chefs and coordinate any special menu or function requirements.
  • Arrange the purchasing and pricing of food, beverages and other supplies in accordance with establishment standards and budgets.
  • Maintain records of stock levels, wastage and financial transactions, and ensure all goods are properly accounted for.
  • Ensure the café, equipment and dining facilities are clean, functional and maintained in accordance with health, safety and food-safety requirements.
  • Monitor the quality and consistency of food and beverage production and maintain established service standards.
  • Confer with customers to assess their satisfaction with meals and service, and resolve complaints appropriately and promptly.
  • Select, train, supervise and support waiting and kitchen staff, including staff performance management and ongoing development.
  • Prepare and manage staff rosters and records, café team meetings, reservations, catering and function requirements.
  • Develop and maintain café policies and procedures and contribute to the growth of the establishment’s reputation and sales.
