Briscoe Group is seeking a highly organised Buyers Assistant to join our Group Merchandise team in Auckland. Working closely with the Buyer, you’ll help bring private label products to life, coordinating samples, purchase orders, and supplier communications from development through to launch.

You’ll manage multiple products, maintain accurate product data, and support cross-functional teams across merchandising, design, and supply chain in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong administration, planning and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Good numerical and systems capability.
  • Experience with ERP or purchasing systems would be beneficial.
  • Previous retail, merchandising or buying support experience would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of private label products from initial concept through to launch.
  • Coordinate and review product samples and approvals throughout the development process.
  • Work with suppliers to track product development, production and milestones.
  • Raise, update and track purchase orders and supplier confirmations.
  • Follow up on timelines and escalate delays or issues.
  • Maintain accurate product, pricing, costing and supplier information.
  • Support product launches and seasonal range reviews.
  • Prepare reports and tracking information for the Buyer.
  • Collaborate with Merchandise Planning, Marketing, Supply Chain, Design and QA.

About the role

We’re looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Buyers Assistant to join our Group Merchandise team.

Working closely with the Buyer, you’ll play an important role in bringing our private label products to life. You’ll support the product journey from development through to launch, coordinating samples and product approvals, purchase orders, product information, production timelines and supplier communication.

You’ll be working across multiple products and priorities, keeping development on track, ensuring information is accurate and identifying potential issues early.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves product, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to build hands‑on experience in product development and retail buying.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the development of private label products from initial concept through to launch

  • Working closely with suppliers to track product development, production and critical path milestones

  • Following up on timelines and escalating potential delays or issues

  • Preparing reports and tracking information to support the Buyer
  • Working closely with Merchandise Planning, Marketing, Supply Chain, Design and Quality Assurance

What you’ll bring

You’ll be organised, accurate and comfortable juggling multiple priorities while keeping on top of deadlines. You’ll also have a genuine interest in product and enjoy seeing something progress from an idea through to the finished product.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Strong administration, planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Good numerical and systems capability
  • Initiative and a practical approach to problem solving
  • Previous retail, merchandising, buying support or administration experience would be an advantage
  • Experience with ERP or purchasing systems would also be beneficial
  • An interest in retail products and trends, along with a relevant qualification in Fashion, Fashion Business, Buying, Merchandising or a related area, would be a bonus.
