Matthews Packaging and Hygiene – Mangere, North Island
Auckland-based | Full-time | B2B Distribution
Matthews Packaging & Hygiene is a proudly New Zealand family-owned B2B business supplying packaging, hygiene and workplace consumables to businesses throughout New Zealand.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Business Systems & Data Analyst to strengthen the way we use technology, data and business systems across our organisation.
This is a key role focused on maximising the capability of our Oracle NetSuite ERP platform, improving business reporting, automating processes and turning business data into practical insights that help our teams make better decisions.
We're looking for someone who doesn't simply produce reports—they understand how a business operates, can identify opportunities for improvement, and can use NetSuite, data and technology to make those improvements happen.
Reporting to senior management, the Business Systems & Data Analyst will become a key internal resource for Oracle NetSuite ERP, business intelligence, reporting, data integrity, process improvement and automation.
You will work across Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Finance, Warehouse, Operations and Marketing to understand how each department operates and identify opportunities to improve systems, reporting and productivity.
A major focus of this position will be ensuring Matthews is getting the maximum possible value from its investment in Oracle NetSuite.
Act as a key internal Oracle NetSuite subject matter expert and provide strong functional knowledge of the platform across the business.
Responsibilities will include:
Strong practical knowledge and previous experience working with Oracle NetSuite ERP is essential for this position.
Develop reporting that gives management clear visibility of business performance and supports faster, better decision-making.
This will include analysis across areas such as:
Develop and maintain management dashboards using NetSuite and business intelligence/reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
The goal is to move the business toward having accurate, easily accessible and increasingly real‑time information rather than relying heavily on manually prepared spreadsheets and reports.
Take ownership of improving the quality and reliability of data across key business systems.
Responsibilities will include:
The successful candidate will understand that good business reporting starts with good underlying data.
Work across the organisation to identify processes that can be simplified, automated or eliminated.
You will:
You should naturally question:
"Why are we doing this manually if our systems can do it for us?"
Help Matthews identify practical opportunities to use AI, automation and emerging technologies to improve productivity.
This could include:
The focus should always be on practical commercial outcomes, rather than implementing technology simply for the sake of technology.
Work with management to turn data into actionable commercial recommendations.
We don't just want someone who can tell us what happened.
We want someone who can help us understand:
Why did it happen?
Where is the opportunity?
Where are we losing margin or productivity?
What should we do differently?
Examples may include identifying:
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Experience within distribution, wholesale, importing, supply chain, warehousing or a similar B2B environment would be highly advantageous.
Experience with NetSuite integrations, SuiteAnalytics, SuiteFlow, SQL or similar technical capabilities would also be advantageous.
You’ll be naturally curious and analytical.
When you see an inefficient process, you’ll want to understand why it exists and how it can be improved.
You’ll be comfortable moving between a management meeting discussing business performance and sitting with an operational team member understanding exactly how a process works inside NetSuite.
You’ll have the confidence to challenge existing processes constructively and the practical ability to implement better solutions.
Most importantly, you’ll combine systems knowledge with commercial thinking.
We’re not looking for someone whose only focus is maintaining an ERP system.
We’re looking for someone who can use NetSuite, data and technology to make Matthews a better business.
Success in this role will be measured through:
The Business Systems & Data Analyst will work closely with:
Ideally, you will have a qualification in one or more of the following areas:
Previous hands‑on Oracle NetSuite experience is a key requirement for this position.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of business systems and analytics within a growing New Zealand company.
Rather than being restricted to one department, you’ll have the opportunity to work across the entire organisation and directly influence how we operate.
For the right person, this role provides significant scope to grow alongside the business and become an important part of Matthews' continued development.
