Job summary

Auckland Transport is seeking a Business Reporting Specialist to lead its enterprise reporting function and own the reporting architecture, standards and cycles. You will provide expert advice to senior leaders and ensure governance confidence in performance reporting across the organisation.

You will also drive narrative quality for Board and Council reporting and build a Centre of Excellence for data driven leadership.

Qualifications

  • Be the primary interface for Auckland Transport to the Transport and Infrastructure Delivery Committee of Auckland Council
  • Lead the cyclical production of Board, Council, and committee papers, packs, and presentations.
  • Lead development of a Centre of Excellence for all data presented to leaders and governors
  • Drive continuous improvement in publishing quality, consistency, and efficiency.

Business Reporting Specialist - Auckland Transport

The Business Reporting Specialist is responsible for leading Auckland Transport's enterprise reporting function.

The role owns the reporting architecture, production standards, reporting cycles and narrative quality for performance reporting across Auckland Transport.

The role interprets organisational performance information to provide expert advice to senior leaders, supporting effective governance, enabling strategic decision making and ensuring stakeholder confidence in Auckland Transport’s performance.

This role plays an important part in Auckland Transport’s stakeholder management by ensuring reporting is appropriate for the Auckland Transport Board, Council committees, Local Boards, and Houkura – Independent Māori Statutory Board.

In this role you will be:

  • Prepare clear, concise, and insight-driven reports for the Executive and Auckland Transport Board
  • Lead development and management of organisational reporting frameworks and cycles.
  • Be the primary interface for Auckland Transport to the Transport and Infrastructure Delivery Committee of Auckland Council
  • Lead the cyclical production of Board, Council, and committee papers, packs, and presentations.
  • Lead development of a Centre of Excellence for all data and information presented to leaders and governors, ensuring consistency of what is provided and that it is tailored to the respective audience
  • Drive continuous improvement in publishing quality, consistency, and efficiency.

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, publishing, design, business, public policy, or a related discipline; or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience (typically 5-7 years) in planning, reporting, editing, corporate communications, or document production roles.
  • Demonstrated experience producing materials for senior executive, Board, or governance audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience providing analysis-based advice or recommendations to inform senior leadership or governance decisions.
  • Proven ability to work with complex, technical, or policy‑based content.
  • Experience working in large, complex, or public‑sector organisations.
  • Experience supporting Council, Board, or committee processes.
  • Experience in transport, infrastructure or CCO Environments
