Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of Business Advisory clients and build trusted client relationships.
• Prepare and review annual financial statements and accounting compliance work.
• Assist clients with management reporting, cash flow forecasting, provisional tax, GST and FBT.
• Support outsourced finance and virtual CFO engagements.
• Work directly with clients to understand their business challenges and provide practical solutions.
• Review work completed by junior team members and ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Coach, mentor and support junior accountants.
• Assist with complex accounting and group engagements where required.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
• Contribute to business development and identify additional opportunities to support clients.
• Utilise accounting systems, Excel and technology to improve the quality and efficiency of client delivery.

As a Business Advisory Services (BAS) Assistant Manager to Manager, you'll manage a portfolio of client engagements while working closely with senior leaders and supporting the development of junior team members.

The role combines traditional BAS and compliance responsibilities with broader advisory work, giving you the opportunity to build strong client relationships and provide practical commercial solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of Business Advisory clients and build trusted client relationships.
• Prepare and review annual financial statements and accounting compliance work.
• Assist clients with management reporting, cash flow forecasting, provisional tax, GST and FBT.
• Support outsourced finance and virtual CFO engagements.
• Work directly with clients to understand their business challenges and provide practical solutions.
• Review work completed by junior team members and ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Coach, mentor and support junior accountants.
• Assist with complex accounting and group engagements where required.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

• 4+ years' experience in business advisory/compliance within a Chartered Accountancy environment
• Previous experience with a reputable CA firm (Big 4, international mid-market, or multi-partner boutique firm)
• CA, CPA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Strong financial reporting and tax compliance knowledge.
• Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements.
• Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Experience reviewing, coaching or mentoring junior team members.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Confidence using Excel and accounting systems such as Xero.
