Job summary

Asahi Beverages Group in Papakura is seeking a Brewing Team Leader to guide a team of about 10 operators on shift. This hands-on role focuses on safety, quality and continuous improvement while spending time on the brewery floor.

You’ll lead performance and development, coordinate rosters, support problem-solving and tastings, and ensure consistent product quality across operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience leading teams in brewing or similar production environments.
  • Brewing background or sound understanding of brewing operations is beneficial.
  • Confidence managing rosters, performance and development.
  • Hands-on leadership style with floor presence.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience supporting improvement initiatives.
  • Commitment to safety, quality and operational standards.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office.

  • Work closely with maintenance, quality, planning and other production teams.
  • Support product quality through tastings and sensory assessments.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and information in relevant systems.

Job description

Lead a skilled brewing team in a hands-on role focused on developing people, solving problems and delivering safe, high-quality brewing operations.

We’re looking for a people-focused Brewing Team Leader to help lead our brewing operations at our Papakura site.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll spend time out in the brewery, supporting your team and keeping operations running safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

You’ll lead approximately 10 operators on shift, manage rosters and performance, and work with the team to solve operational issues and identify practical improvements. You’ll also play an important role in maintaining the quality and consistency of our products, including participating in tastings and sensory assessments.

About You

You’re a practical and approachable people leader who enjoys being close to the operation and supporting your team to perform at their best. You’ll bring a genuine interest in beer and brewing, along with a strong appreciation for product quality and consistency.

You’ll also bring:

  • At least 1–2 years’ experience leading teams in brewing, FMCG, food or beverage manufacturing, dairy, or a similar production environment
  • A brewing background or sound understanding of brewing operations would be highly beneficial
  • Confidence managing rosters, performance, development and day-to-day people matters
  • A hands-on leadership style and willingness to spend time on the floor
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience supporting improvement initiatives
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and operational standards
  • Confidence using Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Experience using SAP would be beneficial
