Job summary

Asahi Beverages’ Papakura site is seeking a Blending Operator to support the blending facility, processing raw materials to meet the daily production schedule. You will work with a wider team, report to the Blending Coordinator, and ensure operations run safely and on time.

This 8-month fixed term contract operates on 8-hour rotating shifts (days, afternoons, nights). You will handle weighing, mixing, quality checks, and maintain production records while upholding safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Be a key operator in the blending of a range of products.
• Interpret recipes and weigh, measure, and combine raw materials.
• Ensure no product losses by following processes and guidelines.
• Fill in and complete paperwork as required.
• Adapt to site needs and complete production tasks.
• Monitor raw material usage to minimise ingredient losses.
• General cleaning of areas, tools, machinery, and utensils.
• Communicate with co-workers and management verbally and by email/telephone.
• Troubleshoot issues as they arise and report anything out of the ordinary.
• Maintain a safe work environment including correct PPE usage.
• Participate in meetings and activities.

Job description

Based at our Papakura site, support the blending facility by processing raw materials to meet our daily production schedule, ensuring smooth, safe, and quality production.

As a Blending Operator at our Papakura facility, you will work with a wider team to help create and deliver beverages that our consumers know and love. Reporting into the Blending Coordinator, you will be a team player with the task of ensuring the smooth operation of the blending facility and be responsible for delivering to the deadlines and requirements of the daily production schedule, produced to-spec, on-time and in-full. Please note: This position is an 8-month Fixed Term Contract and currently operates on 8-hour rotating shifts covering days, afternoons, and nights. Shift arrangements are subject to change in line with business and operational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Be a key operator in the blending of a range of products.
• Accurate and timely interpretation of recipes and translating this into product by the weighing, measurement, calculation and combination of raw materials
• Ensuring that there are no product losses by following in place processes and guidelines
• Filling in and completing paperwork as required
• Adapt to site needs, completing production and process work as required
• Monitor and control raw material usage and handling with the aim of minimising ingredient losses
• General cleaning of areas, tools, machinery, utensils – disposal of waste
• Communicating with co-workers and management verbally & by telephone or e-mail
• Troubleshooting issues as they arise and reporting anything out of the ordinary
• Maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues including the use of correct PPE always
• Actively participating in any meetings and activities

Knowledge and experience with blending operations in any industry (paint, chemical, food, beverage)

• Previous experience with continuous improvement and working to operational targets
• Knowledge of conducting quality checks & keeping production records
• A passion for safety, ensuring that not only yourself but that your colleagues are operating in a safe manner and following processes to a tee
• An ability to make decisions and solve problems on the fly whilst remaining level-headed
• You have sound mathematical skills - you will be working with numbers
• You can speak, write and communicate effectively
• You good computer skills and are comfortable learning new systems

This role has manual handling requirements, you'll need to be comfortable & able to lift up to 25kgs using proper manual handling techniques.
