Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Biopharmaceutical Process Engineer to design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for complex biologics in a remote-first setting. You will contribute to upstream and downstream operations, process characterization, and technology transfer across globally distributed teams.

The ideal candidate holds an MS/PhD in a related field with 4+ years of biopharmaceutical experience, strong GMP knowledge, and proficiency in data analysis tools (JMP, R).

Qualifications

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in biopharmaceutical process development and/or manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with upstream (cell culture) and downstream (chromatography) processing.
• Strong GMP understanding and regulatory knowledge for biologics.
• Proficient in process data analysis and statistical software (JMP, R).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work remotely with collaboration across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale-up biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes (upstream and downstream).
• Design and run experiments to characterize and improve process performance, yield, and quality.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement CAPAs.
• Use process modeling to predict and optimize behavior.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP and best practices.
• Author development reports, tech transfer docs, and SOPs.

Requirements

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in biopharmaceutical process development and/or manufacturing.
• Hands‑on experience with upstream (e.g., bioreactors, cell culture) and/or downstream (e.g., chromatography, filtration) processing.
• Strong understanding of GMP principles and regulatory requirements for biologics.
• Proficiency in process data analysis and statistical software (e.g., JMP, R).
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and critical‑thinking skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects in a remote environment.
• Experience with process validation is a plus.
