Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field.
• Teaching qualification or relevant experience preferred.
• Experience teaching Biology at secondary or tertiary levels is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of biology and ability to communicate concepts clearly.
• Laboratory safety knowledge and practical lab experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated Biology Tutor to join our private training school. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging biology lessons, supporting students in achieving their academic goals, and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Biology lessons in accordance with the school’s curriculum and learning objectives.
• Explain biological concepts clearly using appropriate teaching methods, practical activities, demonstrations, and learning resources.
• Prepare students for internal assessments, examinations, and other academic requirements.
• Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, quizzes, and examination papers.
• Assess and monitor students’ academic progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Identify students who require additional support and provide appropriate guidance or remedial instruction.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.
• Encourage student participation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning.
• Conduct practical biology activities and laboratory sessions where applicable, ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are followed.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school management regarding student progress and learning needs.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, school events, and other academic activities as required.
• Stay up to date with developments in Biology, teaching methods, curriculum requirements, and educational technology.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree or above equivalent qualification in Biology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
• A teaching qualification or relevant teaching experience is preferred.
• Previous experience teaching Biology at secondary, senior secondary, foundation, or tertiary-preparatory level is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Biology and the ability to communicate scientific concepts effectively.
• Experience preparing students for examinations is desirable.
• Practical laboratory experience and knowledge of laboratory safety procedures are an advantage.
