Job summary

BDO Auckland is seeking a senior advisory professional to lead client engagements, deliver practical accounting and tax guidance, and drive sustainable business growth through strategic planning and strong team leadership.

You will supervise engagements from planning through to delivery, review financial reports, and provide clear commercial advice to clients across industries. The role requires CA experience and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Ideally 5+ years’ experience in business advisory within a CA environment.
  • An accounting background and/or working towards a CA qualification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technical capability and analytical thinking

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to identify business challenges, develop strategic plans and implement solutions that support sustainable growth
  • Draft accurate, high-quality advice across accounting standards, tax compliance and business management principles
  • Analyse and interpret client financial reports and management accounts to deliver meaningful, actionable insights
  • Advise on tax-effective strategies including trust income distribution, group structures, FBT, GST, PAYE and indirect taxes
  • Supervise medium to large engagements through to review stage and complete final reviews for small to medium jobs
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills and appropriately escalade complex issues for resolution
  • Communicate complex matters and practical solutions clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing
  • Motivate, mentor and develop team members to build a high-performance culture within BAS
