Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a Bar Manager or Senior Duty Manager for a busy Whiskey, Cocktail and Late Night lounge in the CBD. You will lead a small, passionate team, deliver outstanding beverage experiences, and maintain high standards in the beverage program.

The role requires proven bar experience, strong leadership, and NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa. An LCQ, General Manager’s Certificate, and a Duty Manager Certificate are preferred to ensure compliance with NZ liquor laws.

We are seeking a dynamic Bar Manager or Senior Duty Manager to work in our Whiskey, Cocktail and Late Night lounge in the CBD. You will have experience working in a fast paced cocktail environment and enjoy the craft of making amazing cocktails. This role requires a person with demonstrated bar tending abilities alongside great people skills to develop and foster relationships with customers and staff. You will be joining as small and talented team that has a great staff culture and your success in the role will be determined by your ability to work within and also lead the talented team we have created.

You will be working under an experienced Venue Manager who has high expectations from the senior team and will work in partnership to deliver outstanding service and experiences along with maintaining a high standard in the beverage program.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate bar tending abilities and create amazing cocktails
• Develop and foster relationships with customers and staff
• Create a great working environment and promote teamwork and a productive workplace
• Deal confidently with staff and customers, demonstrating personality while remaining customer focused, approachable and friendly
• Manage late night service and the complexity that comes with late night environments

About you

• Minimum 2 years previous experience working in a fast paced bar environment
• Previous bar tending experience
• Previous experience in training and developing staff
• Excellent wine and cocktail knowledge
• NZ residency or valid NZ work visa required
• For Bar Manager role: LCQ certificate, current General Managers Certificate, and full understanding of NZ Liquor licensing laws. YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT DUTY MANAGERS CERTIFICATE.
