Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced District Nurse to join our Wellington district nursing team. The role supports patients at home, providing autonomous practice within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

The position offers flexible shifts with morning and afternoon options, and access to regular in-service training, study days, and post-registration opportunities. A current APC and a valid driver licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Current Annual Practising Certificate or registration as a Nurse with NZ Nursing Council (APC).
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent relationship-building with community healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver home-based interventions including IV therapy, palliative and wound care.
• Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with GPs and the Health NZ team.
• Delegate and supervise Health Care Assistants (HCAs) as part of the care team.
• Participate in clinical governance meetings and service development.
