Job summary

Aspiring Motor Group Limited is seeking an Automotive Technician to join our Cromwell workshop. This full-time role focuses on preventive maintenance, diagnostics and high-quality repairs to keep our customers safe and satisfied.

You will work in a collaborative team with modern equipment, follow manufacturer specifications, and communicate repair options and costs clearly to customers. The position requires a valid licence and a proactive attitude.

Aspiring Motor Group Limited is seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Technician to join our team in Cromwell, Otago. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic automotive environment, maintaining and repairing vehicles to the highest standards. As an Automotive Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers receive reliable service and quality workmanship. This position is based at our Cromwell location, where you will be an integral part of our technical team. We are a new dealership, locally owned and operated and we are looking for the right person to join our small team, to help us grow our business and look after our customers at the highest standard.

What you'll be doing
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on vehicles, including oil changes, filter replacements, brake service, and tyre maintenance
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and equipment, identifying issues accurately and efficiently
  • Repair and service vehicle engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and other mechanical components
  • Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections and provide customers with detailed reports of findings and recommended repairs
  • Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all work completed on vehicles
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle issues, repair options, and costs
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised, and maintain safety standards at all times
  • Utilise workshop equipment and tools safely and responsibly, reporting any maintenance issues
  • Stay current with industry developments and participate in ongoing training and professional development
What we're looking for
  • A recognised qualification in automotive mechanics or a related automotive trade qualification
  • Proven experience working as an Automotive Technician or in a similar role within the automotive industry
  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools commonly found in automotive workshops
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work methodically through complex technical issues
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters clearly to customers
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
  • A valid driving licence and ability to test drive vehicles safely
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Current knowledge of health and safety regulations in the automotive industry
  • Experience with vehicle diagnostic software and digital repair documentation is advantageous
  • Customer service orientation and a professional approach to client interactions
