Job summary

Armstrong's in Auckland is seeking a Field Technical Lead to support a new international automotive brand. Based in Auckland, you will work with dealership technicians and factory engineers to resolve complex diagnostics, deliver training, and build dealer network capability.

You will primarily provide remote and on-site technical support for EV and high-voltage systems, while coaching technicians and contributing to product feedback and warranty investigations.

Qualifications

• Qualified automotive technician with at least five years' workshop experience.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across modern vehicle systems.
• Experience with EV/hybrid systems is advantageous but not essential.
• Good computer literacy and ability to use diagnostic software and technical systems.
• Excellent communication skills and a willingness to coach others.
• Full NZ driver’s licence and willingness to travel to dealerships.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote and on-site technical support for complex diagnostics and repairs, including EV and high-voltage systems.
• Liaise with factory engineers to investigate and resolve technical issues.
• Develop and deliver technical and product training to dealership technicians.
• Identify recurring faults, support warranty investigations and provide feedback to the manufacturer.
• Support new vehicle launches and ensure dealers have the technical knowledge and tools.

A new international automotive brand is launching in March , and Armstrong's Group is looking to connect with experienced technicians who want to be part of the journey. We're seeking expressions of interest for a Field Technical Lead to help establish the technical foundations of the brand and support its growing national dealer network. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled diagnostic technician or Master Technician looking to take the next step in their career. The Opportunity Based in Auckland, you'll work closely with dealership technicians and international factory engineers to resolve technical challenges, deliver training and build capability across the dealer network.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide remote and on-site technical support for complex diagnostics and repairs, including EV and high-voltage systems.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience with EV/hybrid systems, technical training or OEM support would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
• Good computer literacy and confidence using diagnostic software and technical systems.
• Excellent communication skills and a willingness to coach and support others.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work independently.
• A full NZ driver's licence and willingness to travel to dealerships as required.
