Job summary

BOTANY CAR SERVICES LIMITED in Auckland is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of vehicles, from routine servicing to complex mechanical and electrical fault finding. You will work with experienced technicians in a workshop that values quality workmanship and clear communication.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering and extensive hands-on experience, plus strong diagnostic skills and a safety-focused

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
• 25+ years hands-on automotive or heavy equipment experience.
• Experience with PFMEA, work instructions and quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs on braking, clutch, transmission, exhaust, cooling, suspension, and steering systems
• Conduct electrical diagnostics for fault lights, HVAC, central locking, batteries, alternators, windows, and electronic control units
• Carry out WOF inspections and ensure all work meets NZ safety standards
• Execute tyre services, wheel balancing, and four-wheel alignment
• Support panel & paint and collision repair jobs with mechanical disassembly/reassembly as needed
• Use advanced scan tools and diagnostic equipment to identify root causes accurately
• Maintain detailed work records and communicate clearly with customers about required repairs
• Collaborate with the team on process improvement, workshop safety, and tooling optimisation
