Job summary

JobSpace in New Lynn, Auckland, is seeking two experienced Indo-Fijian Chef / Café Cook to join our busy takeaway/café team. The role requires proven experience preparing Fiji Indian curries and Fiji Indian-Chinese dishes, and the ability to work under pressure.

You will prepare and cook authentic dishes, maintain hygiene, manage stock rotation, and assist with menu development during busy service periods. Full-time positions with hours between 30 and 50 per week, offering competitive

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' relevant commercial cooking experience or a relevant cookery qualification with kitchen experience.
• Proven experience preparing authentic Fiji Indian curries and Fiji Indian-Chinese dishes.
• Experience cooking items such as chop suey, fried rice, chilli chicken and stir-fries.
• Strong knowledge of traditional Fiji Indian spices, ingredients, and techniques.
• Experience in a busy café, takeaway, or restaurant kitchen; reliable and hygienic work practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook authentic Fiji Indian curries.
• Prepare Fiji Indian-Chinese dishes including chop suey, fried rice, chilli chicken, stir-fries and noodle dishes.
• Cook café and takeaway meals to a high standard.
• Develop and maintain authentic recipes and seasoning.
• Ensure food safety regulations are followed and quality is monitored.
• Assist with menu planning and introducing new dishes.
• Manage stock rotation and minimise food waste.
• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen.
• Work efficiently during busy service periods and assist with training junior kitchen staff.
