Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years’ external audit experience in a complex, regulated environment.
  • Professional qualification or actively working towards CAANZ, CPA, ACCA, ICAEW, or equivalent.
  • Experience coaching, supervising, and reviewing junior staff; strong IFRS knowledge; degree in accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior staff on statutory audits from planning to final review.
  • Deliver high-quality audits that enhance financial integrity and transparency for clients.

We’re seeking experienced auditors to join our Assurance team at Senior Associate level across PwC New Zealand office locations. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality external audit engagements across a diverse public and private sector client portfolio, working with leading local and global organisations. This full-time role (Monday – Friday, minimum 37.5 hours per week) offers increased responsibility, direct client engagement, and opportunities to mentor junior team members, all within a supportive, values-led environment. Your day-to-day could include:

  • Collaborate closely with senior staff on statutory audit engagements, guiding projects from initial planning through to final review and contributing to the evolution of our auditing practices.
  • Play a pivotal role in building public trust by delivering high-quality audits of financial statements that enhance the financial integrity and transparency of our clients.
  • Work directly with clients and high-performing teams to understand business needs, ensure compliance with policies and standards, test internal controls, and substantiate financial information using best-practice audit methodologies.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and graduates, fostering a culture of excellence while supporting their professional growth and development.
  • Leverage leading-edge technology to deliver high-quality external audit work in line with PwC audit methodology and auditing standards, helping set new benchmarks for quality and innovation.

This is an excellent opportunity to build on your external audit experience, ideally gained within a large, globally recognized professional services or audit firm.

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience delivering external audit engagements within a complex, regulated environment.
  • Professionally qualified or actively working towards a recognized accounting qualification (e.g. CAANZ, CPA, ACCA, ICAEW, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to end-to-end external audit engagements, including coaching, supervising, and reviewing the work of junior team members.
  • Strong working knowledge of internationally recognized financial reporting standards, particularly IFRS.
  • A relevant bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or a closely related discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
