Job summary

PwC New Zealand in Hamilton is seeking a Manager to lead a portfolio of private clients, delivering practical financial statements, tax compliance and advisory support. You will blend technical accounting with commercial insight to support strategic planning and private business matters across the client lifecycle.

As a Manager, you’ll own engagement planning, workflow and resourcing, review complex work, mentor junior team members and help drive timely, profitable delivery while collaborating

Qualifications

  • 2+ years Manager-level experience in a professional services firm or strong commercial experience.
  • Degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting or similar, with CA, CPA, CAANZ or CPA membership or progress towards membership highly regarded.
  • Strong technical capability across tax compliance, financial analysis and private business advisory, with the ability to deliver practical, high-quality advice.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, analytical problem-solving capability, strong attention to detail and a client-focused mindset.
  • Experience developing others, including coaching or mentoring junior team members and contributing to a collaborative learning culture.
  • Confidence using Xero, Spotlight Reporting and Excel; experience with DEXT, ApprovalMax, Spotlight Forecasting, Figured, PowerBI or similar tools would be advantageous.

  • Supporting finance function and reporting assignments for clients, including forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Coaching, mentoring and training junior team members while sharing technical knowledge across the team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join PwC New Zealand's Private team in Hamilton, where you'll manage a portfolio of private clients and play a key role in delivering practical, high-quality financial statements, tax compliance and advisory support. Working with a broad range of privately owned businesses, you'll combine technical expertise with commercial thinking to support strategic and tax planning, risk management and private business matters across each stage of the client lifecycle. As a Manager, you'll take ownership of engagement planning, workflow and resourcing to support quality, timely and profitable delivery. You'll work closely with senior leaders, review technical accounting and tax compliance work, support client reporting and finance function assignments where required, and help junior team members grow through coaching, mentoring and knowledge sharing.

Your day-to-day could include:
  • Managing a portfolio of private clients across accounting and tax compliance and advisory engagements, including reviewing financial statements, tax returns and related client deliverables.
