Job summary

Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) is seeking an Associate Partner to support Commercial Partners with credit writing, financial analysis and proactive customer service. You’ll contribute to delivering lending proposals, annual plans and portfolio management for a diverse business customer portfolio.

You will develop relationships, drive quality lending decisions, and help clients leverage BNZ’s digital channels to access timely, effective banking support.

This is a great opportunity to grow your commercial banking career, working alongside experienced Partners and gaining exposure to a diverse portfolio of business customers.

As an Associate Partner, you’ll support our Commercial Partners in delivering exceptional service to customers, with a strong focus on credit writing, financial analysis, portfolio risk monitoring and proactive customer support.

What will your day-to-day look like?

• Support Commercial Partners with credit writing, annual reviews, covenant testing and portfolio administration.
• Analyse financial information and prepare lending proposals that support quality customer outcomes.
• Assist with credit management and the implementation of annual business plans for assigned customer portfolios.
• Develop and manage customer relationships, while building strong referral connections across BNZ and the local market.
• Help customers make the most of BNZ’s digital and support channels, ensuring they receive timely and appropriate service.

What will you bring?

Ideally, you’ll bring experience in business banking and an understanding of business lending, credit processes and financial analysis. However, we’re also keen to hear from experienced bankers with complex lending experience, or candidates with a strong financial background who are confident interpreting business financials and supporting quality lending decisions.

You will demonstrate:

• Business banking experience would be highly regarded, particularly where you have supported lending applications, credit writing or portfolio management.
• Alternatively, experience in complex lending, credit assessment, financial analysis or a strong finance-related background will also be considered.
• Confidence interpreting business financials, understanding customer needs and preparing clear, accurate information.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
• A professional, customer-focused approach, including confidence speaking with customers by phone when needed.
