Job description

Worker Type:

Permanent

Here at BNZ, it’s about more than just banking. We work together in an agile, energising environment to create innovative solutions through our promise “If you can imagine a better future, let’s find a way.”

We support wellbeing, flexible working and have a generous leave offering. There is the opportunity for growth, learning and career development. No two days are the same.

MōteTūranga| About the Role

As an Agribusiness Partner, you’ll work alongside farmers, growers, and rural business owners to understand their goals, navigate opportunities and challenges, and provide banking support that helps their businesses thrive.

Canterbury is a key region for farming and agribusiness, so this role would suit someone who understands the realities of running an agribusiness and the business owners are making every day. You may already be working in agribusiness banking, or bring a farming/agribusiness background with the financial knowledge to understand what’s involved in running a successful business.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Build and grow relationships with farmers, growers, and other agribusiness customers, becoming a trusted banking partner for their business goals and future plans.

  • Get to know your customers’ businesses deeply, including their operations, plans, challenges, seasonal pressures, and opportunities, so you can provide relevant banking support and advice.

  • Stay close to market, economic, and industry trends, using your knowledge to have meaningful conversations with customers and help them make confident financial decisions.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who brings the credibility to be seen as a trusted adviser — someone who understands the realities of farming and agribusiness, can work through financial requirements with confidence, and can help customers navigate decisions that matter to their business.

You’ll bring a strong farming or agribusiness background, confidence interpreting financial information, and the ability to balance strong customer relationships with sound commercial and risk judgement. You’ll understand the value of networking, connecting people, and creating opportunities that help customers and communities succeed.

What’s exciting about this opportunity?

In a region where farming and agribusiness are at the heart of the local economy, this is a meaningful opportunity to support customers who are deeply connected to the land, their communities, and the future of rural New Zealand.

You will be joining a supportive and knowledgeable team of experienced Agribusiness Partners, where you’ll have the opportunity to share ideas, learn from others, and continue building your expertise in a key sector for New Zealand.
