Job summary

Douglas Pharmaceuticals Ltd is seeking an Associate Data Engineer (Power BI) to design and deliver dashboards, support data pipelines, and improve data quality for better business decisions. You will collaborate with technology and business teams and gain exposure to modern BI platforms, cloud data services, and AI initiatives in a 9-month fixed-term role in Auckland.

Ideal candidates have ~2 years’ BI experience, strong SQL, Python exposure, and a solid understanding of data warehousing.

Qualifications

  • Around 2 years' experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards and data models.
  • Experience working with SQL and a good understanding of relational databases.
  • Exposure to Python and cloud-based data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure or Snowflake.
  • An understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT concepts and data warehousing principles.
  • Strong analytical thinking with a passion for solving problems through data.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain engaging Power BI dashboards, reports and data models that provide actionable business insights.
  • Build and optimise DAX measures and Power Query (M) transformations.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into intuitive visual solutions.
  • Support and maintain Power BI Service, including workspaces, apps, gateways and row-level security.
  • Assist with designing, monitoring and improving data pipelines to ensure reliable and timely data delivery.
  • Help integrate data from enterprise systems, including ERP, CRM and manufacturing platforms.
  • Contribute to data modelling and warehouse optimisation to improve reporting performance.
  • Support data quality initiatives by validating, profiling and maintaining trusted datasets.
  • Partner with analysts and business teams to enable self-service reporting and data-driven decision making.
  • Explore new technologies and contribute ideas that improve Douglas' evolving data and analytics capability.

What you'll do

What you'll bring
