West Hamilton Community Church
Location: Hamilton, New Zealand
Location type: On-Site
Date advertised: 9th October 2026
Job Type: Full time
Closing Date: 13th November 2026
West Hamilton Community Church is an evangelical charismatic church with a strong sense of family. It is a founding parish in the Church of Confessing Anglicans in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Its current roll is 220 active, signed-up members (including children but not counting most of our youth). Our members come from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds but find their unity in Christ. All-age ministries, prayer, worship, Bible study and preaching, pastoral care, evangelism, support of overseas mission, and care of God’s creation are priorities.
Position Description
The Assistant Minister’s role is full-time.
We are looking for a person of mature faith who loves Jesus, is passionate about introducing people to him, and about discipling them to maturity. Applicants should be people who are prayerful, compassionate, hard-working and humble. They should be well trained, able to preach and teach the Scriptures to both children and adults.
They will need to share the charismatic evangelical theology and spirituality of the parish as well as its holistic vision of ministry. They will be ministering in a multi-cultural setting in which a particular awareness of (or openness to) Te Ao Māori is important.
Our primary purpose in employing an assistant minister is to refresh and expand our ministry to children and 18-40 year olds.
Youth are currently well catered for. It is expected that the Assistant Minister will be a catalyst for ministry and evangelism to singles and families, young adults and children. We have a core group of 14 children, a strong youth group (mainly non-church members), and a small group of young adults.
The Youth Group will not require anything of the Assistant Minister, but children’s and young adults’ ministries will. Current children’s ministries include year 1-10 Children’s Church on Sundays during term time; a Thursday after-school programme; and two holiday programmes per year.
Our desire is to see these ministries grow by reaching non-believers in our local community with the Good News of Jesus Christ, while continuing to disciple to maturity those already attending. The Assistant Minister will oversee and develop these ministries and train others to serve in them.
The Assistant Minister will be part of a team which currently includes the Vicar, Men’s Pastor and Youth Pastor, as well as a number of committed volunteers.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land upon which Anglican churches, schools and organisations meet and serve
from the Hawkesbury River south to Ulladulla and Sutton Forest, and west to the Blue Mountains and Lithgow.
We acknowledge and pay our respects to their elders, past, present and emerging,
and pray that God will unite us all in a knowledge of his Son, in whom all things were created.
