Commerce Commission – Auckland, North Island
Our Market Regulation branch is looking for an inquisitive and self-driven Assistant Analyst or Analyst. We are particularly interested in applicants who enjoy working with data and using quantitative and qualitative analysis to solve complex regulatory and market problems.
We have two opportunities available: a 9-month fixed-term position in our Groceries team and a permanent role in our Dairy, Fuel and Payments team. These roles can be based in either Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) or Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington).

Mō te tūranga | About the role
You will work across a variety of projects within multi-disciplinary teams of lawyers, economists, analysts and regulatory specialists. You will gather and critically analyse information, identify key issues, draw well-reasoned conclusions, and contribute to the delivery of clear, evidence-based advice to decision makers.
A key part of this role involves working with quantitative information from regulated businesses and market participants. You will analyse market, operational and financial data, identify trends and insights, and help assess whether regulatory outcomes are being achieved.
The indicativesalary range for these positions are: Assistant Analyst is $81,083 - $95,392, Analyst $94,025 - $110,618. Our 3.5% KiwiSaver employer contribution is additional to this. The successful candidate will be appointed at a starting salary which reflects their individual skills, experience, and internal relativities across the organisation.

Relevant backgrounds may include economics, statistics, finance, accounting, engineering, data analytics, commerce, public policy, regulation, auditing or research.
For the Assistant Analyst role, we would consider someone with an internship in a related field, or at least six months' work experience post‑qualification. For the Analyst role, we would expect applicants to have at least two years' experience in a related field.
