Job summary

Laminex, part of the Fletcher Building family, seeks an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Penrose. You’ll support day-to-day finance operations, participate in month-end close, asset administration, and compliance, while collaborating with stakeholders to maintain accurate financial records.

Ideal candidates have an accounting degree, CPA progression, 2–3 years in a related environment, and strong Excel/ERP skills. This role offers growth within a supportive finance team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting; CPA qualified (or working towards).
• 2–3 years' experience in supply chain operations or manufacturing.
• Strong grasp of debits/credits and ledger flows.
• Experience with IFRS 16 lease accounting and related compliance.
• Experience across AP, AR, reconciliations, month-end reporting, or compliance.

Responsibilities

• Support FX and treasury activities, including hedge documentation and payments.
• Process FX supplier invoices, payment runs, reconciliations, accruals and IFRS 16 leases.
• Prepare and post month-end journals and support period-end close.
• Maintain the fixed asset register including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.
• Administer P-Cards and employee expense processes to ensure integrity of claims.
• Assist with GST, FBT, and other statutory compliance requirements.
• Support internal and external audit activities.
• Assist with year-end reporting and close procedures.
• Provide financial support and guidance to stakeholders across the business.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
