Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Mercury is a bold future-focused organisation, providing energy and telecommunications to more Kiwis than anyone else, leading the way with renewable energy and working toward a sustainable future. At the heart is our purpose. Taking care of tomorrow: connecting people and place today. This pushes us to do all we can to create a better future for our people, our communities, and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Good asset data matters. It supports better decisions, effective maintenance and ultimately helps keep our people safe and our generation plant reliable.

We’re looking for an Asset Systems Data Lead to take the lead on the standardisation, governance and continuous improvement of our computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) Maximo, master data and asset management processes.

This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys working with data, but also enjoys connecting with people. You’ll work across our generation sites and collaborate with Central Engineering, Site eEngineering, Operations, Asset Strategy and Technology to improve the quality of our data, how Maximo is designed and used, and the standards and processes that sit behind it.

We’d prefer this role to be based in Hamilton where the team is based, with flexibility for Rotorua. We offer a life-friendly approach to flexibility, with the freedom to start earlier or later to suit your day and work from home a couple of days each week.

Tāu e mahi ai | What you’ll be doing

You’ll combine hands-on data work with technical leadership and governance. You’ll interpret, manipulate, create and maintain asset and maintenance data in Maximo, while helping teams understand how good data and consistent processes contribute to safe, reliable plant.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Lead and govern master data standards, including asset hierarchies, KKS coding, maintenance strategies, plans, task lists and defect reporting
  • Interpret technical information and translate it into accurate, useful data within Maximo
  • Analyse asset system data to identify trends, data quality issues and opportunities to improve work management performance
  • Lead improvements to CMMS processes, functionality, workflows and data quality
  • Ensure Asset Management Standards are reflected and implemented within Maximo
  • Build strong relationships across Engineering, Operations, Asset Strategy, Technology and other teams to embed improvements and consistent ways of working

You’ll have plenty of autonomy to work through problems and progress improvements, while being part of a collaborative and flexible team where support and guidance are available when you need them.

You’ll bring strong asset management and maintenance systems knowledge, alongside the ability to work confidently with complex data. You’ll be comfortable moving between detailed data work, governance and conversations with stakeholders across the business.

  • Strong experience working with CMMS and maintenance data, ideally including Maximo
  • Experience in asset management as it relates to maintenance systems, processes and governance
  • Significant experience in long-term work management planning using Maximo, SAP or a comparable system
  • The ability to handle, manipulate and analyse large volumes of maintenance and cost data, and develop meaningful reporting
  • The ability to interpret technical information and translate it accurately into asset system data
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with the confidence to work across technical, operational and technology teams
  • A relevant degree or higher qualification in maintenance management, systems or a related discipline, or equivalent depth of relevant experience
  • Additional 5 days leave per annum (MyDays)
  • $400 one off tax-free payment towards setting up your home office
  • Offers on electricity and telco - if you're a Mercury customer, you can enjoy some great discounts on your electricity and telco bill
  • A diverse workplace where your unique abilities and talents will be recognised and encouraged
  • Annual salary reviews with excellent parental leave policy, with the option to purchase additional leave
  • The opportunities, career paths and facilities associated with working for one of New Zealand's largest multi-utility providers
  • Flexible working policy - The autonomy and trust to work flexibly from our purpose-built premises and from home, recognising the value of this flexibility in the modern world
  • Discounted health insurance and free life and income insurance
  • Excellent well-being programme including up to $100 annual check ups and confidential assistance programme
  • Gender affirmation leave and supportive bereavement leave to be taken when you lose anyone close to you, including your pet
