Job summary

Nelson City Council, as part of its significant local government transformation, seeks an experienced professional to join its Asset & Activity Planning team in Nelson. You will connect asset planning across the Council, bringing Activity Management Plans together in a joined-up view, identifying risks, gaps and dependencies to support evidence-based decisions.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, planning, asset management or related discipline.
• Strong analytical skills across financial, investment and risk analysis.
• Experience coordinating AMPs, an Infrastructure Strategy, LTP or annual planning processes in a complex organisation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with senior leaders and elected members.
• Experience in governance reporting and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead business unit performance reporting and planning coordination, resolving day-to-day issues and operational risks.
• Coordinate the development and integration of Activity Management Plans, Infrastructure Strategy and Water Services Strategy, and input into the Long Term Plan and annual planning processes.
• Provide strategic analysis and advice on investment prioritisation and lifecycle optimisation.
• Align asset planning with financial planning and Council-wide frameworks, across teams and partners.
• Identify risks, gaps and dependencies across asset portfolios, lead mitigation planning.
• Prepare high-quality reports, briefings and decision papers while monitoring regulatory compliance.
• Lead continuous improvement of planning frameworks, tools, processes and data.
