Job summary

Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, the Auckland Council's cultural, events and destination agency, seeks an Asset Management Lead to oversee and improve TAU's asset management across venues valued over $1.4 billion. • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience, with formal training or professional development in asset management considered advantageous.
• At least seven years’ experience in asset management, infrastructure planning or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience developing or contributing to Asset Management Plans and working with asset data, reporting, analysis and information held across multiple systems.
• Experience operating successfully within complex, multi-stakeholder environments and building productive relationships across different business functions, service providers and partner organisations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic asset management advice and lead the development and continuous improvement of practical, current Asset Management Plans that align with organisational priorities, Auckland Council policy and long-term infrastructure planning requirements.
• Improve TAU’s asset information and reporting environment by integrating asset, maintenance, risk, sustainability and operational data into clear, accessible dashboards and portfolio-level insights, including through our internal venue reporting tool (CRAM) and Power BI.
• Lead the development and maintenance of TAU’s Long-Term Plan (10-Year) and 30-year asset investment forecasts.
• Translate complex asset information into decision-ready advice that supports lifecycle planning, capital investment, service performance, risk management and the prioritisation of work across the property portfolio.
• Work with internal teams and external service providers to improve the consistency, quality and usability of asset data, identify opportunities for automation and reduce reliance on manual reporting and fragmented information.
• Maintain strong relationships across Property, Facilities Management, Capital Projects, Finance and Sustainability, while representing TAU in Auckland Council asset management forums and supporting alignment with council-wide requirements.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Asset Management Lead to manage and continuously improve Tātaki Auckland Unlimited’s asset management function across our diverse venue portfolio valued at more than $1.4 billion. As a senior specialist and member of the Property Leadership Team, you’ll lead the implementation of our Asset Information Strategy and strengthen asset management planning, data quality, condition reporting and information visibility. Your expertise will support informed operational and strategic decisions, long-term capital planning, investment prioritisation, infrastructure resilience and sustainability outcomes while helping lift asset management maturity across the organisation.

In this role, you will:

You’ll be a senior asset management professional who combines strong technical knowledge with a practical, outcomes-focused approach. You’ll be confident working with complex asset information and translating it into clear insights, reports and recommendations that support effective decision-making. With well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, you’ll know how to simplify complexity, identify workable solutions and manage multiple priorities. You’ll also be an engaging communicator and trusted relationship builder who can influence outcomes across a diverse stakeholder environment without relying on direct authority.Experience using reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI would be valuable, along with the ability to present information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
