Job summary

Franklin Smith Group in Cambridge, North Island is seeking multiple experienced Asphalt Plant Operators with a strong safety mindset to join our earthmoving and road construction teams on diverse NZ projects. You will operate asphalt plant equipment, coordinate with the foreman, and may travel to different regions for project needs. Must be a NZ citizen or resident with at least 3 years of asphalt plant operation experience and a Class 2 driver license.

Qualifications

• NZ citizen or resident
• At least 3 years full-time Asphalt Plant Operation experience
• Class 2 driver license

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 2 machinery and asphalt plant equipment
• Work closely with the Foreman and Leading Hand to ensure safety and on-schedule completion
• Operate asphalt pavers with correct setup, alignment and material flow
• Assist with side screeds, width setting and level adjustments
• Monitor mat quality (thickness, temp, finish) and adjust as needed
• Coordinate with truck drivers and ground crew for steady asphalt supply
• Carry out pre-start checks and routine maintenance on equipment
• Maintain a clean, safe and tidy worksite
