Job summary

Fulton Hogan in Drury, New Zealand is seeking a hands-on Plant Operator to run the asphalt plant and loader. You’ll monitor temperatures, mix settings and product quality, while assisting with material blending to meet production specs. A safety-first approach and teamwork are essential in this role.

You’ll start up and shut down the plant, carry out routine inspections, and maintain records. A Full Class 1 licence (Class 2 preferred) and(loader) experience are needed, with WTR endorsement

Qualifications

• Requires a Full Class 1 licence; Class 2 licence preferred.
• WTR endorsement is preferred but not essential.
• First Aid certificate preferred.
• Experience with civil asphalt, bitumen or aggregate operations.
• Safety-focused, reliable approach to hands-on plant work.
• Ability to operate loader and assist with plant feed.

Responsibilities

• Operate the asphalt plant and loader safely, efficiently and in line with production requirements.
• Monitor plant performance, mix settings and product quality to ensure asphalt is produced to spec.
• Complete pre-starts, routine inspections, shutdown checks and daily production records.
• Manage raw material movements, stockpiles and plant feed to support smooth, uninterrupted production.
• Maintain site housekeeping, environmental controls and support basic fault identification and maintenance.
• Work closely with drivers and the wider team to keep the site running smoothly.
• Communicate effectively to contribute to a positive site culture.

We're looking for a Plant Operator to join our Drury asphalt (production) team. This is a hands-on role where you'll help run the plant, operate loader equipment, and keep production moving safely, efficiently and to the right standard. If you like practical work, solid teamwork and being trusted to get stuck in, this could be a great fit.

In this role, you'll support the day-to-day operation of our asphalt plant, helping to ensure production runs safely, efficiently and to specification. Your responsibilities will include starting up and shutting down the plant, monitoring temperatures, gauges and mix settings, and assisting with the blending of aggregates, bitumen and additives to meet production and quality requirements. You'll also operate the loader to move raw materials, manage stockpiles, feed materials into the plant, and help prevent contamination.

You'll also carry out routine inspections, complete production and quality records, maintain housekeeping and environmental controls, and work closely with drivers and the wider team to keep the site running smoothly. It's a technical, hands-on role where safety, attention to detail and consistent plant performance matter. This is also a team that works best when people communicate well, back each other up and take pride in doing Good Work together, so being a strong team player and contributing to a positive site culture really matters.

• A safety-focused, reliable approach and the ability to carry out the inherent requirements of a hands-on plant role.
