Job summary

Fulton Hogan in Auckland's Drury asphalt production team is seeking a hands-on Plant Operator. You will help run the plant, operate loader equipment, monitor temperatures, mix settings and quality requirements.

You will carry out pre-starts, inspections, maintenance and daily records, while liaising with drivers to maintain smooth production. A Class 1 licence (Class 2 preferred) and a safety-focused approach are expected, with training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Full Class 1 licence at minimum; Class 2 preferred.
• WTR endorsement preferred, though not a deal breaker.
• Experience or exposure to civil asphalt, bitumen or aggregates.
• First Aid certificate preferred.
• Safety-focused, reliable approach and a strong team player.

We're looking for a Plant Operator to join our Drury asphalt (production) team. This is a hands-on role where you'll help run the plant, operate loader equipment, and keep production moving safely, efficiently and to the right standard. In this role, you'll support the day-to-day operation of our asphalt plant, helping to ensure production runs safely, efficiently and to specification. Your responsibilities will include starting up and shutting down the plant, monitoring temperatures, gauges and mix settings, and assisting with the blending of aggregates, bitumen and additives to meet production and quality requirements. You'll also operate the loader to move raw materials, manage stockpiles, feed materials into the plant, and help prevent contamination.

You'll also carry out routine inspections, complete production and quality records, maintain housekeeping and environmental controls, and work closely with drivers and the wider team to keep the site running smoothly. It's a technical, hands-on role where safety, attention to detail and consistent plant performance matter. This is also a team that works best when people communicate well, back each other up and take pride in doing Good Work together, so being a strong team player and contributing to a positive site culture really matters.

Operate the asphalt plant and loader safely, efficiently and in line with production requirements.

Monitor plant performance, mix settings and product quality to help ensure asphalt is produced to spec.

Complete pre-starts, routine inspections, shutdown checks and daily production records.

Manage raw material movements, stockpiles and plant feed to support smooth, uninterrupted production.

Maintain site housekeeping, environmental controls and support basic fault identification and maintenance.

A Full Class 1 licence at minimum, with a Full Class 2 licence preferred.

A WTR endorsement ideally, though it's not a deal breaker.

Experience or exposure to civil asphalt, bitumen or aggregate operations.

A First Aid certificate preferred, though not essential.

A safety-focused, reliable approach and the ability to carry out the inherent requirements of a hands-on plant role.
