Job summary

BCN Architects in Christchurch seeks an Architectural Graduate or Architectural Technician to join our studio. You’ll work across education, healthcare, hospitality and commercial projects, contributing ideas from early design through construction.

We value design flair, teamwork and a proactive approach. The role offers opportunities to learn, progress and take on increasing responsibility within a supportive studio.

Qualifications

• NZ architectural qualification or architectural technology qualification.
• 2+ years experience in a NZ architectural studio.
• Knowledge of NZ Building Code and NZS 3604.
• Proficiency in Archicad is essential.
• Strong design and spatial planning skills.
• Experience with Photoshop and InDesign is important.

• Contribute to design development from early concept through construction documentation.

BCN Architects is looking for an Architectural Graduate or Architectural Technician to join our Christchurch studio.

We’re a dynamic and collaborative architectural practice working across a diverse range of projects including education, healthcare, hospitality, commercial and residential. Our projects vary in size and complexity, providing the successful candidate more opportunities to get involved, learn, contribute ideas and see how successful projects come together.

We want someone who enjoys design, people and architecture, is keen to contribute to the team, and wants to develop their career through genuine involvement in projects from early design through to construction.

What we're looking for

• An appropriate architectural or architectural technology qualification.
• A minimum of 2 years' experience within a New Zealand architectural studio.
• Conversant with the preparation of architectural drawings, documentation and detailing
• Knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and NZS 3604
• A good level of Archicad ability is essential
• A strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & InDesign Essential)
• Good communication skills and the confidence to talk, ask questions and work in with the wider team
• An interest in being involved in projects rather than simply being given a list of drawings to produce
• Strong design skills and an understanding of spatial planning
• 3D visualisation/rendering skills – definitely an advantage
• Attention to detail and pride in producing good work
• A positive attitude, sense of humour and willingness to learn
• You don't need to know everything. In fact, we'd be slightly suspicious if you said you did.

What matters is that you have a solid foundation, are prepared to ask questions, want to improve and are willing to contribute.
