Job summary

The Arborist and The Gardener, a young family-run company in North Island, is seeking a trained arborist to join the crew. You will perform technical tree work, removals, pruning, and rigging to high standards.

The role requires Level 3 Arboriculture or equivalent, strong practical experience, a full class 1 license, and good health and safety awareness. You will work with a tight team that values safety and customer service.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Arboriculture qualification or equivalent as a minimum.
  • Strong practical arboriculture experience.
  • Excellent climbing ability.
  • Experience with tree removals, pruning, rigging and technical tree work.
  • Full class 1 license and competent driving a manual.
  • Strong understanding of arboricultural health and safety.
  • Keen eye for tree identification.
  • Solid foundation in understanding and addressing tree health issues.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Climbing and completing technical tree work.
  • Tree removals and sectional dismantling.
  • Complete all types of tree pruning to a high standard: reductions, thinning, crown lifting, dead wooding, fruit tree pruning, formative pruning, crown restorations and retrenchment pruning.
  • Rigging and lowering operations.
  • Hedge and general arboricultural work.
  • Operating chainsaws, chippers and other arborist equipment.
  • Identifying hazards and keeping work site safe.
  • Maintaining high health and safety standards.
  • Communicating professionally with customers.
  • Equipment/tool maintenance and records.

The Arborist and the Gardener is a young and growing family run company seeking a trained arborist to join the arb crew. As a company we offer a wide range of services from garden designs, implementation and maintenance, to technical tree removals and pruning. We ensure high standards across the board by creating teams with knowledge and skills based in their field of work.

Key responsibilities
  • Climbing and completing technical tree work
