Our 4-year Heavy Automotive Engineering Apprenticeship provides hands‑on experience working with some of the worlds most advanced machinery while completing a NZ Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering Plant and Equipment (Level 3 & 4).

Youll gain practical skills from industry experts, train in world‑class facilities, and be supported throughout your apprenticeship by a dedicated development team.

About the Qualification

NZ Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering Plant and Equipment (Level 3 & 4)

This qualification prepares individuals to service, repair and maintain mobile plant machinery used in construction, mining, agriculture and civil infrastructure.

This qualification develops skills in:

• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
• Servicing engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and braking systems
• Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Conducting fault diagnosis using testing equipment and technical documentation
• Applying workplace health and safety practices
• Working effectively in a team environment

The role within Komatsu involves working on equipment such as earthmoving, construction and mining machinery.

Holders of this qualification demonstrate strong technical knowledge, problem‑solving ability and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship, making them well‑suited to roles within workshops, field service teams and heavy equipment operations.
