Job summary

Mint Innovation in New Zealand seeks an Analytics Intern to join the Research, Development and Laboratory Services team, characterising process samples using analytical techniques like spectroscopy and helping refine how we track mass balance and batch-level chemistry data across the business.

You'll be mentored by our Analytical Scientist and Lab Manager, gaining hands-on exposure to instrument operation and troubleshooting, turning raw lab data into actionable insights for the wider R&D team.

The Role

As our Analytics Intern,you'llworkinour Research, Development and Laboratory Services team, characterising process samplesusinganalyticaltechniqueslikespectroscopy, andhelping refine how we track mass balance and batch-level chemistry data across the business. Mentored by our Analytical Scientist and Lab Manager,you'llget hands-on exposure to instrument operation andtroubleshooting, andhelp turn raw lab data into something the wider R&D team canactually acton.


Thispaid internshipis an amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic, curious, and driven student to work alongside a supportive and welcoming team on afull-time basis(40 hoursper week) for10 weeks.Ideally,we are looking at a start date betweenmid November
-earlyDecember 2026.


The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in analytical chemistry techniques and genuine interest in how data quality drives process improvement in a hydrometallurgical setting. Strong attention to detail and comfort working with structured data (Excel or lab information systems) is essential, alongside a motivation for sustainability and resource recovery.


To be eligible for these internships, you must:


  • Be studying, or have recently completed, an undergraduate or postgraduate degree or qualification at NZQA level 6-10. If study has been completed, the closing date of your final semester should be less than 12 months ago.

  • Be studying science New Zealand tertiary education institute.

  • Be legally permitted to work in New Zealand.

  • Not have been previously employed by Mint unless in a part-time or temporary role.

  • Not have undertaken more than two Experience Grant internships with Mint.
