Job summary

Southern Cross Health Insurance is building a new Data & AI function and seeks an Analytics Engineer to design, build, and maintain analytics data models using Snowflake and dbt. You’ll work with data engineers, analysts and stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose datasets that support Power BI and other reporting tools.

Reporting into the Innovation & Advanced Analytics Lead, you’ll embed best practices, testing, lineage and documentation as the data stack scales.

Qualifications

• Experience building analytics solutions using Snowflake and dbt or equivalent tools.
• Strong SQL and data modelling knowledge, including dimensional modelling and medallion architecture.
• Experience with Git-based development, CI/CD and software engineering practices.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, reusable data products.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain analytics data models using dbt and Snowflake.
• Develop incremental and dimensional models that are scalable and performant.
• Apply software engineering practices: Git, code reviews, CI/CD and automated testing.
• Monitor data quality and ensure trusted data assets.
• Optimise Snowflake storage and compute for performance and cost.
• Create and maintain documentation, metadata and lineage for data products.
• Collaborate with data engineers to structure source data.
• Partner with analysts and stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose datasets.
• Support Power BI and other reporting tools with curated datasets.
• Build trusted data products powering advanced analytics and AI.
