Job summary

The University of Waikato, based in Hamilton, seeks an Analytics Engineer to shape our enterprise data platform using Databricks. You will translate source data into trusted, business-ready datasets and develop the semantic layer behind Power BI, Databricks dashboards and Genie.

You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across the university to define entities and measures, migrate reporting from legacy systems, and establish modern analytics engineering practices with AI-enabled approaches.

Qualifications

• Three years’ relevant experience in analytics engineering, BI, data modelling, business analysis or a related data role.
• Strong SQL skills and dimensional modelling knowledge.
• Experience building semantic models or governed measures in platforms such as Power BI.
• Experience applying DataOps practices such as version control and environment promotion.

Responsibilities

• Build the new enterprise data platform on Databricks.
• Migrate reporting and datasets from legacy data warehouse to the modern platform.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define data definitions and business terms.
• Develop governed measures and semantic models for BI and AI tooling.
