Job summary

The University of Waikato is building a new enterprise data platform on Databricks to support better decision-making, reporting, and analytics. You will shape data definitions, models and governance across stakeholders, delivering business-ready datasets and AI-enabled insights.

Based in Hamilton, this full-time role drives modern analytics engineering—from data modelling to semantic layers—while migrating reports from the legacy warehouse to the new platform and enabling AI-assisted workflows.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in analytics engineering, BI, data modelling or business analysis.
• Strong SQL and dimensional modelling knowledge.
• Experience with semantic models or governed measures in Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to define data entities, measures and business terms.
• Translate sources into canonical and dimensional data models.
• Develop the governed semantic layer behind Power BI and Databricks dashboards.
• Migrate reporting from legacy data warehouse to the modern platform.
• Establish modern analytics engineering practices, including AI-assisted workflows.
