Job summary

The New Zealand Government is seeking an Analyst, Evaluation & Research based in Wellington to support the Evaluation & Research Team within the Data & Insights group. You will help build evaluation capability across the Ministry and promote the use of evidence to drive better learning outcomes.

The role reports to the Manager, Evaluation & Research and involves communicating complex information to non-technical audiences, solving data-related problems, and adapting to a dynamic public sector

Qualifications

• Excellent written and oral communication skills including presentation and facilitation skills.
• Demonstrated highly developed problem solving and the ability to see innovative solutions to technical problems.
• Adaptability and the capacity to cope with a rapidly changing environment.
• Knowledge of evaluation and data collection methods.
• Experience working for government, Education Agencies, or other large organisations.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about improving educational outcomes and keen to grow their evaluation skills. The Analyst, Evaluation & Research reports to the Manager, Evaluation & Research in the Data & Insights group within Te Pou Kōrero | Digital and Data. In this role, you will support the Evaluation & Research Team to build evaluation capability across the Ministry and promote the effective use of evidence by providing high-quality advice. This will help ensure the Ministry, early learning providers, schools, education professionals, parents, whānau, learners, and communities can put their efforts in the right place, in the right way, and at the right time, to enable learners to succeed.

Salary range: $75,815 - $91,347 per annum plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience. For more details about the role, you can view the job description here.

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake The Evaluation and Research Team serves a strategic and governance function for Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | the Ministry of Education to guide best practice in evaluative thinking, design, evidence gathering, and synthesis. The team works to ensure that the Ministry is prioritising evaluation to determine what works, why, and for whom and sets standardised approaches to evaluation to inform improved investment and research decisions. The Evaluation & Research Team is part of Te Pou Kōrero | Digital and Data. Te Pou Kōrero sets the digital and data direction that enables a modern, efficient, and seamless experience for those interacting with education services.
