Job summary

Ministry of Education in Wellington seeks an Analyst, Evaluation & Research to support the team in building evaluation capability and promoting the effective use of evidence across the education system.

The role focuses on delivering high-quality advice, communicating complex information to diverse stakeholders, and helping ensure that learners, whānau, and communities receive appropriate support aligned with policy priorities. This is a fixed-term or secondment opportunity based in Wellington.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and oral communication skills including presentation and facilitation, and ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated advanced problem solving and ability to identify innovative solutions to technical problems.
• Adaptability and capacity to cope with a rapidly changing environment.
• Knowledge of evaluation and data collection methods.

The Analyst, Evaluation & Research reports to the Manager, Evaluation & Research in the Data & Insights group within Te Pou Kōrero | Digital and Data. In this role, you will support the Evaluation & Research Team to build evaluation capability across the Ministry and promote the effective use of evidence by providing high-quality advice. This will help ensure the Ministry, early learning providers, schools, education professionals, parents, whānau, learners, and communities can put their efforts in the right place, in the right way, and at the right time, to enable learners to succeed.

Salary range: $75,815 - $91,347 per annum plus KiwiSaver.

The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you

The Evaluation and Research Team serves a strategic and governance function for Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | the Ministry of Education to guide best practice in evaluative thinking, design, evidence gathering, and synthesis. The team works to ensure that the Ministry is prioritising evaluation to determine what works, why, and for whom and sets standardised approaches to evaluation to inform improved investment and research decisions. The Evaluation & Research Team is part of Te Pou Kōrero | Digital and Data. Te Pou Kōrero sets the digital and data direction that enables a modern, efficient, and seamless experience for those interacting with education services.
