Job summary

Air New Zealand is seeking an Airworthiness Engineer in Auckland. You’ll apply hands‑on aircraft experience to influence the safety, reliability and cost‑effectiveness of our fleet, working within a highly skilled Airworthiness Team on a range of technical challenges.

This permanent, full‑time role is 40 hours per week, with ongoing development, collaboration with regulators and vendors, and access to staff travel benefits, wellbeing support and flex leave.

Qualifications

• Two years of mechanical experience on large commercial aircraft.
• Aerospace or Aviation Engineering qualification preferred or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on aircraft maintenance environment experience is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills; able to influence decisions.
• Confident written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• SAP knowledge is beneficial but not essential.

• Produce clear technical reports and recommendations for decisions.
• Apply hands-on aircraft experience to investigate and resolve issues.

As an Airworthiness Engineer, you’ll apply your hands‑on aircraft experience to complex technical challenges, helping ensure our aircraft continue to operate safely, reliably and cost‑effectively.

This is a permanent, full‑time position, working 40 hours per week, within our Airworthiness Team in Auckland. You’ll join a highly skilled group of technical specialists where your expertise and perspective will be valued, while building your capability across a broad range of engineering challenges.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Analyse technical and repair data to develop practical, robust engineering solutions that support safe and reliable aircraft operations
• Produce clear technical reports and recommendations that enable well‑informed engineering decisions
• Apply your mechanical aircraft experience to investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
• Influence key technical decisions by providing sound engineering advice to stakeholders across the airline
• Engage and negotiate with vendors and internal stakeholders to achieve effective technical and commercial outcomes
• Work with regulatory authorities on technical matters, supporting ongoing airworthiness and compliance
• Contribute to improvement initiatives that strengthen engineering performance and help shape the future of our operation.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be proactive, solutions‑focused and comfortable working through complex engineering challenges in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

• At least two years of mechanical experience working on large commercial aircraft.
• An Aerospace or Aviation Engineering qualification is preferred, or relevant equivalent experience.
• Hands‑on experience in an aircraft maintenance environment would be an advantage.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to develop sound solutions and influence decisions.
• Confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Strong computer skills, with SAP knowledge beneficial but not essential.

The salary range for this position is NZD $100,812 to $126,012 per annum, depending on relevant skills and experience.
