Job summary

Propellerhead in Auckland, New Zealand is seeking a Technical Strategist to lead the design of complex, multi‑tier systems and shape the platform direction for client products. You will combine architectural insight with hands‑on engineering, guiding an AI‑assisted delivery pipeline and ensuring alignment with our technical strategy.

This role operates in a hybrid work model based in Auckland, with opportunities to engage across New Zealand and internationally as you collaborate with the Chief

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience delivering multi‑tier and distributed applications.
• Agentic‑first: comfortable using AI to prototype, shape solutions, and direct an AI‑assisted delivery pipeline across requirements, testing and code generation.
• Confident communicator and presenter to senior client stakeholders.
• Experience with React and C#, plus Typescript/Java/Go/Rust is essential.
• Strong communication skills to bridge technical solutions with business needs.
• Hands‑on experience designing Azure solutions, including CI/CD pipelines and operations instrumentation.
• Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka or NATS is desirable.
• Proven leadership in designing complex enterprise software applications.
• Professional presence and ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Authoring, reviewing and communicating solution architecture and specifications with Development teams.
• Championing Propellerhead's technical strategy and aligning designs with that vision.
• Building trusted relationships with client decision‑makers and explaining designs to technologists.
• Serving as the go‑to technical person for client solutions and facilitating prerequisites for delivery.
• Developing strategies to ensure quality measures like speed‑to‑value, security, reliability and performance.
• Facilitating evolution of codebase from C# to Rust and AI‑driven tooling.
