Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Agricultural Extension Officer to support farmers in the Queenstown, Eastern Cape region. This vital role focuses on promoting sustainable farming practices, improving agricultural productivity, and facilitating the adoption of modern techniques. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of agronomy, crop management, soil conservation, and farmer education. You will work directly with farmers, providing technical advice, conducting training workshops, and demonstrating best practices in the field. Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance and advisory services to farmers on crop production, soil health, and sustainable farming methods.
• Organize and conduct farmer field days, workshops, and training sessions on various agricultural topics.
• Promote the adoption of improved agricultural technologies and practices, including water management and conservation techniques.
• Assess farmers' needs and challenges and develop appropriate solutions and recommendations.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of extension services and implemented practices on farm productivity.
• Collect and disseminate relevant agricultural information, market data, and policy updates to farmers.
• Liaise with government agricultural departments, research institutions, and other stakeholders.
• Assist farmers in accessing resources, inputs, and financial support where applicable.
• Document farm visits, training activities, and progress reports for management and reporting purposes in Queenstown, Eastern Cape .
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in agricultural science and extension methodologies.

Requirements

• A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in agricultural extension, field advisory services, or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of local farming systems, crops, and agricultural challenges in the Eastern Cape .
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with farmers from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience in organizing and delivering training programs and workshops.
• Understanding of sustainable agriculture principles and practices.
• Good report writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and locations.
