Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Agricultural Extension Officer to serve the Queenstown farming community. The role bridges research with on-the-ground practices, delivering expert advice and training to improve productivity and sustainability.

You will collaborate with farmers, government agencies, and research institutions, disseminating best practices in crop management, livestock farming, and resource conservation. Hybrid engagement is expected.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Agricultural Extension Officer to serve the farming communities around Queenstown . This vital role bridges the gap between agricultural research and on-the-ground farm practices, providing farmers with expert advice, training, and support to improve their productivity and sustainability. You will work closely with farmers, government agencies, and research institutions to disseminate best practices in crop management, livestock farming, and resource conservation. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a hybrid approach to client engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance and advisory services to farmers on crop cultivation, pest management, and soil health.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a hybrid environment, engaging with farmers both in person and virtually.
  • Proficiency in local languages and understanding of regional agricultural contexts is an advantage.
