Job summary

Sacred Heart Cathedral School in Wellington is seeking an enthusiastic Programme Manager to lead the delivery of our sKids after-school programme, creating a safe, engaging environment where children learn, grow, and have fun.

You will own day-to-day operations, coach a team, support children's wellbeing, and build strong relationships with families and school staff. Part-time role with a minimum of 15 hours per week, rostered Monday to Friday, with after-school hours from 2:10pm.

Qualifications

• Right to work in New Zealand (visa or citizenship).
• Reliable transport to Thordon site.
• Enjoy working with children and creating positive experiences.
• Experience with children through babysitting, coaching, tutoring, childcare, holiday programmes, volunteering or youth work.
• Confident supporting learning, development and participation in group activities.
• Reliable, energetic and enthusiastic about making a positive difference.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of day-to-day running of the sKids programme, ensuring safe, structured operations from set-up through pack-down.
• Lead and inspire a team to deliver a positive programme experience where children feel valued, included and engaged.
• Support children's learning and development through homework support and skill-building activities.
• Plan and deliver activities including arts, sports, baking, STEM, drama and music.
• Create a welcoming environment balancing learning, recreation, creativity and fun.
• Manage behaviour and support tamariki with varying needs with consistent guidance.
• Build strong relationships with parents, caregivers and school staff as the programme's main contact.
• Lead, coach and support Programme Assistants, setting clear expectations.
• Manage administration, resource preparation, compliance and daily operations to ensure smooth sessions.
