Job summary

New Zealand Government is seeking an Administrator for Maternity Services Waikato at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton. You will provide confidential, proactive administrative support to the District Chief Midwife and senior managers, enabling governance, performance reporting and smooth operations within maternity services.

The role requires a tertiary qualification, 3+ years of administration experience, strong digital literacy and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years administration experience.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
  • High level of digital literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Proven ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, manage competing demands, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly learn and confidently use organisational information systems (e.g., Datix, payroll, recruitment and document management systems).

    About the Role

    The primary purpose of the role is to provide highquality, confidential, and proactive administrative assistance to the District Chief Midwife (DCM), Midwifery Managers and Charge Nurse Manager, to enable effective leadership of maternity clinical governance, service performance, and operational delivery.     Key responsibilities
    • Reports directly to the District Chief Midwife
    • Takes daytoday direction from the DCM
    • Provides additional administrative support to Midwife Managers and the Charge Nurse Manager to ensure smooth operational functioning across maternity services
    • Operates in a fastpaced environment requiring excellent judgement, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information
    • Maintains efficient office systems, supports recruitment and payroll processes, and contributes to quality improvement activities

    The Womens Health team at Waikato Hospital serves a diverse population of urban and rural women from Hamilton city and the Waikato region with over five thousand births per annum. The families of our region have a range of superb primary birthing units to choose from and when complexity arises, they are also able to access care from the team at Waikato Hospital. We pride ourselves on having a fabulous midwifery team, who are passionate about supporting our newly graduated midwives. We offer a comprehensive first year of practice programme. We are committed to building close relationships with our primary care midwives from the community (LMC midwives) and strive to engage their valuable insight as part of our quality improvement initiatives.
