Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Addiction Support Counsellor for our client’s team in Welkom, South Africa. You will provide therapeutic support to individuals with substance use, using evidence-based counselling to foster recovery and resilience.

Responsibilities include client assessments, relapse prevention planning, and delivering individual and group sessions. You will work within the South African healthcare framework, educate families, and maintain confidential records.

Qualifications

• Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or related field is required.
• Professional accreditation or certification as an Addiction Counsellor is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in addiction counselling or related therapeutic setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client assessments to determine addiction issues.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment and relapse prevention plans.
• Provide one-on-one and group counselling sessions using various therapeutic modalities.
• Educate clients and families about addiction and recovery processes.
• Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Maintain confidential client records per ethical standards.
