Job summary

Kamo Home & Village Charitable Trust in Whangarei is seeking an Activities Coordinator/Diversional Therapist to plan, coordinate and deliver engaging lifestyle programmes reflecting residents' interests and cultures. You will work with residents, whānau, staff and volunteers to create a vibrant, inclusive environment.

A qualified Diversional Therapist is preferred; experience in aged care or community engagement is valued.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Diversional Therapist preferred.
  • Experience in aged care, recreation, community engagement, or a related field.
  • Passionate about improving the lives of older people.
  • Creative, organised, and self-motivated.
  • Warm, positive, and able to build meaningful relationships.
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • Culturally responsive and committed to inclusion and dignity for all residents.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver daily, weekly and monthly activities.
  • Support resident participation and engagement.
  • Organise special events, celebrations, outings and community visits.
  • Build relationships with volunteers, entertainers and community organisations.
  • Maintain activity records and documentation.
  • Ensure activities promote physical, emotional, social, spiritual and cultural wellbeing.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to continually enhance the lifestyle programme.

As our Activities Coordinator, you will plan, coordinate, and deliver engaging lifestyle programmes that reflect the interests, abilities, cultures, and preferences of our residents. You will work closely with residents, whānau, staff, volunteers, and community groups to create a vibrant and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Planning and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly activities
  • Supporting resident participation and engagement
  • Organising special events, celebrations, outings, and community visits
  • Building relationships with volunteers, entertainers, and community organisations
