Job summary

Bupa Stokeswood Care Home in Lower Hutt, New Zealand, is seeking an Activities Assistant to lead and support resident programmes in a Dementia Unit. This permanent part-time role offers average 25 hours per week, with shift 10:30am–4:30pm and a 4-on/2-off roster.

You will run individual and group activities, review residents' activity plans, foster a homely, stimulating environment, and maintain strong communication with families and staff. NZ work eligibility required.

Qualifications

• NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level preferred.
• Experience in aged care desirable.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Demonstrated empathy and enthusiasm for residents.
• Creative flair and a people-centered approach.
• A clean, full driver’s licence preferable.

Hours & Roster Details:

• Employment Type:Permanent Part-Time
• Hours:Average 25 hours per week
• Shift Time:10.30am – 4.30pm
• Roster Pattern:4 days on, 2 days off(6-weekly rotating roster across Monday - Sunday) in Dementia Unit

The purpose of this job

Located on the edge of Stokes Valley, Lower Hutt, Bupa Stokeswood Care Homeenjoys beautiful views of the surrounding bush-clad hills. Care options include Rest Home, Hospital, and Dementia Care.

As an Activities Assistant, you will:

• Participate and contribute to both individual and group programme activities.
• Contribute to the review and assessment of the residents' individual activities programme.
• Actively promote a homely, stimulating, and pleasant environment for the residents and their families.
• Develop and maintain excellent internal and external communication networks to support the activities programme.

What you’ll needto make it possible

• An NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level is preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar role within aged care is desirable.
• Display enthusiasm, empathy, and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of residents.
• Demonstrate outstanding communication skills.
• A fun personality with a creative flair.
• A clean, full driver’s licence is preferable, as you may drive the van for resident outings.
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
