Job summary

WasteCo in Timaru is seeking a Litter bin Driver (Class 2) to join our busy frontline team. This role involves driving, waste collection, and frequent interactions with customers; early starts and a hands-on approach are required.

You will operate rear-load and front-load bins, perform pre-start checks, complete paperwork, and follow NZ transport rules. A Class 1 and Class 2 licence, a safety-focused mindset, good communication, and the ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Class 1 and Class 2 driver licences.
• Positive and friendly attitude.
• Clear communication and good customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities.
• Flexible and adaptable approach.
• Good decision-making skills.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Basic computer knowledge and confidence using an iPad.
• At least one year’s experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Operating rear-load compactors and emptying bins.
• Collecting and emptying front-load bins safely and efficiently.
• Loading and unloading gantry bins.
• Completing general labouring duties.
• Following transport routes provided by Scheduling and Dispatch.
• Completing daily pre-start checks and logbook entries.
• Ensuring customer collection requests are completed.
• Completing all required paperwork accurately.
• Communicating professionally with customers.
• Reporting operational issues, incidents and fleet repairs promptly.
• Attending toolbox meetings.
• Following WasteCo driving policies and New Zealand transport requirements.
